My babies have had a growth spurt and I needed some time to get adjusted to the new changes. Sippy cups have officially left the home and have been replaced with sports bottles! Maxx turned 3 in Feb and was super excited to start pre school and soccer! He is too funny -he tries to keep himself from smiling by biting on his cheeks, I guess its the cool thing to do! Why does he look like a 6 year old in this picture :( My Jack Jordan is weeks away wrapping up the first grade! I didn't realize how much homework, projects and reading they have these little humans doing at the age of 6! What happened to painting and story time!?! And Sports... Oh sports! I never got to play any sports so this is all new to me... I made the mistake by signing him up for winter basketball and spring baseball -not knowing that they totally overlap! I was going nutty for a couple of weeks there, with 4-5 days of sports and practices (I'll never do that again!). Jack loved the busy schedule but this mommy needed a breather! I guess you can say I'm officially an amateur sports mama! :) I'm loving these ages -the boys have more in common and are able to play together longer than 5 minutes now! Woo hoo! We have found our new groove and have hit the ground running with tons of weddings to share with you guys -cant wait!!!
You may have heard me mention Claudia before -she was my hair stylist for my wedding day and she has done hair & makeup for some of my styled shoots HERE AND HERE. She is extremely talented at her art and did I mention she's a real life Mermaid! This lady has had red, blue, green, silver, and now half pink & purple hair! The sky's the limit for her and her hair adventures -and she has found a man who loves every single shade! Claudia and Mike shared a friend who thought they'd be perfect for each other and wanted to set them up on a blind date, but the timing was all wrong. Little did they know that destiny had other plans for them years later when Mike came across a familiar face from Facebook's "People You May Know". After finally hanging out in person they knew they were a perfect fit! Eleven months later Mike popped the big question while they were on a hot air balloon ride in the middle of the beautiful morning sky! We met up in San Dimas on a overcast Spring evening and I finally got to meet Mike and Theodore aka Teddy (her adorable pooch)! Mike is such a nice guy and they have such a natural fun chemistry together -which made my job easy : ) Cant wait for their wedding this winter at the Imperial Palace in Pasadena!!! I added different presets on every other photo -you'd never think that they were all from photo session! A little Sepia here, black and white with a splash of color there, oh and you can't forget about those vintage presets! Oh Lawdy! It took me a year to get that out of my system and find my groove. At the end of the day the style that never got old to me was the fresh clean crisp look. Which I now refer to as my "Modern" style, it's bright with warm vibrant colors! That has been my go to look for the last 4 years, but lately Ive been having a wondering eye... ... for FILM!!!! Oh sweet film how I love thee and all that you do! You and your soft melts of pastel colors that goosh romance!!! So dreamy! Why do you have to be so doggone expensive! Man! I'd have to sell my first born child just to be able to buy a nice film camera and all of your pretty little rolls to just keep my business afloat until I built a clientele that would want to make that type of investment! Holy Cow you are too fancy! ... I digress! So low and behold I introduce to you the next best thing... the ever so glorious "digital" film!!! Awwwww!!!! I can say that I have come to like it just as much as I like the vibrant "modern" look! But I can't bring myself to completely transform, sooooo instead I thought "hey, why not give my wonderful clients the options of both and they can select the one that they like the most!?!" Ding! Ding! Ding! we have a winner!!!! This new editing style will be called "Timeless" because its extremely similar to that classic look of film that never goes out of style. And if you don't like either than go ahead and skedaddle lol!

I'M JANELLE MARINA
Wife, Mama Shark, + Photographer. Most days, you'll find me in mismatched socks and a top knot, working behind my computer with a smile on my face, listening to Zac Brown Band and R&B --or, dancing in the kitchen with my 3 littles and hunka husband, seeing who could come up with the coolest dance moves. I'm a wedding photographer, West Elm lover, aspiring advocate for our buddies with special needs, and a Certified Dreamer since 1986. We live in a cozy city in Southern California and are always up for a good adventure. I enjoy telling stories with my camera, grubbing on spicy food, and solving the latest Dateline case.
