My goal for this year was to second shoot as many weddings as I could to build up a solid portfolio! I got a few in before I got sick... but not as many as i had planned! I saw that my photographer friend just announced that she had booked a wedding, so me being the ansy person that I am asked her if she needed a second shooter. I am the type of person that wont wait to be asked… Jack can definitely vouch for that ! I pretty much asked him to ask me to be his girlfriend! I told him when I was ready to get married so feel free to ask away lol! What can I say… I know what I want & I don’t like to wait to see what happens, I try to make it happen… sometimes it’s a good thing & a bad thing! In this scenario it was a great thing! Abbey Lunt allowed me to be apart of her team for the day! We are both in the same boat… started in September, starting to book weddings, & willing to hustle to build our portfolio! She’s pretty awesome! Our bride & Groom were high school sweethearts… Young love! He was in the military & she was going to leave with her man! The wedding was a beautiful backyard wedding in Yucaipa, they brought the beach to them! Literally… they shipped in sand for the ceremony! The happy couple signing their marriage license... They took some time from all the fun & dancing to take some lovely sunset photos! The lighting was a photographers dream come true!!! Their love shines through all their photos!!! Thanks Abbey for letting me join your team for the day! Loved working with you!

Four years ago I was curled up in bed vomiting every parcel that I put in my mouth & then some… I had hoped that my second pregnancy would be different. I kinda wanted to experience the fun cravings & glowing skin! But no such luck!!! The only difference is that I was addicted to “Project Runway” back in 2008 & now I’m hooked on “The real housewives of Oc & Jersey”. Thank God I have a better doctor that put me on Zofran… I still feel the nausea, but I’m able to keep my food in my belly for the bean. So I took some time away from work & my awesome Mama had been holding down the household.
Then a tornado hit… literally! It was time to MOVE! We found a cute house with a backyard for lil man to play in! We were so stoked, but since it was already the end of the month we had to move in right away! With Jack busy in school, my Mama & I were the main packers… that is until she Broke her right arm the night before the big move! Luckily our families were there to pick up the extra slack, but now I’m left with all the unpacking which is no fun at all!!! Im thinking yard sale time!!! In between all that I still had doc appointments to go to… we found out that I am 13 weeks, this means I am only a few weeks away until I get over the 1st trimester funk & move onto to a hopefully more “normal” life where I have the energy to put makeup on & do my hair! I hope I didn’t lose all of my readers with this long absence… I see that some of you still check daily & I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the support! Thanks mucho mucho!! I promise to get my butt in gear (as my dad would say) & get back to work (bloggin & shootin) soon! I still have a wedding that I assited to post up in a few days! Heres a sneaky peaky... |
I'M JANELLE MARINA
Wife, Mama Shark, + Photographer. Most days, you'll find me in mismatched socks and a top knot, working behind my computer with a smile on my face, listening to Zac Brown Band and R&B --or, dancing in the kitchen with my 3 littles and hunka husband, seeing who could come up with the coolest dance moves. I'm a wedding photographer, West Elm lover, aspiring advocate for our buddies with special needs, and a Certified Dreamer since 1986. We live in a cozy city in Southern California and are always up for a good adventure. I enjoy telling stories with my camera, grubbing on spicy food, and solving the latest Dateline case.
