After inserting the quarters into the machine, you hope to see a toy loose on top of the pile. At this point you don’t really care if it’s the toy that you prefer; you just want to win something! After accurately centering the claw, you finally decide to push the RED button. Holding your breath as it slowing moves down… Most of the time it grabs nothing, but the moment that you realize that it grabs a part of the toy you were aiming for; everyone is silent until the claw drops it into the bin. (Sometimes the claw will drop the toy before it reaches the bin, so you never know what’s going to happen!) SWOOSH!! (-that’s my noise for the toy falling into the bin.) No matter how old you are,EVERYONE who is involved in this process Hollers in excitement! There’s something about the “Claw” Toy Vending Machine that brings the kid out of everyone! And yes I am one of the lucky winners from last night who won a Buffalo Wild Wings Teddy Bearfor my son. Woot Woot!!
We went to visit my Tia Diane yesterday and had such a nice time. She is also an aspiring Photographer, so we talked Photography all day! That may seem boring to you, but it was so fun to me!! Thanks for showing us a good time last night; we should get together more often!

I am the most indecisive person I've ever know! I changed my page, font, and logo. Today I like the whole Vintage Romantic Look. Hope I dont change my mind... Less is Always More!
I always thought it had to be a sunny day to get beautiful pictures, but the gloom is your friend. We had a field trip today and went to Heritage Park in Covina, it’s a nice little park. First I shot a brother and his older sister. I could feel the love that they had for each other; it reminded me of how I felt about my siblings when we were younger! (the pure kind of Love)They had no problem rolling around in the grass, which posed for great photos. Our second super star was a happy little baby girl. She was so cute and cuddly, I just wanted to eat her lil cheeks. This last photo is very random… I had my friends from class stand close together because I really wanted to photograph the wood planks on this bridge. (Thanks Katy & Mon -u guys are good sports) I also took a photo of a path of bricks that had names on them, it looks pretty cool (no I don’t know what the names stood for).
You’re supposed to carefully open and cut the film without touching the backside, load it on the reel, & place in a special container, all in a pitch black room! Say What! Tuesday’s class was covering how to process & develop film. This is something that I’ve always wanted to learn, mostly because it looks so cool when they do it on the movies (what also looks cool is creating ceramics like on the movie Ghost -thats also on my "Cool Things To Do List"). But little did I know that it’s so much work! I give the photographers from back in the film days a lot of credit for taking the time to do this. It takes probably 1 hour to process a film strip and develop only 1 photo. Or maybe they slowed it down for the class.
The instructor turned the lights off and put on the dim safe light (I felt like I was in a cool movie). I got to aggravate the tray (which is the fancy word for moving the tray up and down to get the solution to cover to whole photo) with the developer solution and I was able to see the photo slowly appear on the plain white paper. It was pretty awesome. Maybe one day we’ll have house with a cool basement that I can turn into my dark room to develop my own photos. -Until then I’ll stick to digital! -Wow 3 blogs in 1 week is pretty good for me! It’s hard to find time to update my blog, Thank you for those of you that keep reading. I finally got the charger for Jacks laptop so I’m able to work at home again! Yippee! My new challenge is to fit in time for Yoga! I’m on cloud 9 & I don’t want to come down! Please don’t make me come down! I was really shocked that I got about 30 good photos out of the 200 that I shot of my sister. I was really surprised on the feedback that I got. My "pretend" bride loved them, but she also loved some of the ones that I thought weren’t good lighting, coming from what I learned in my photography classes. My mother loved them –but she loves everything I do, Thanks Ma! Jack & my brother Chris aren't so easily impressed (which I totally appreciate they’re harshness) so when they chose the 20 that they liked I knew those were good! My biggest Critic of all is my good ol father-n-law Pat, he’s BRUTALLY honest! I actually like to bring my work to him to see what he thinks (he thinks he has an artistic eye, & I guess I must too since I care what he thinks). So far he’s only liked 2 of my photos which are the newborn photos of the feet. Anyway I called him and asked him to take a look online and he had to call me back. The wait was horrible but when he finally called back, I was squinting my face preparing myself for him to say how bad they were… But to my surprise he said the complete opposite! He loved them! He said there were a few ordinary ones but the REST of them were great! Phfeeww! (a sigh of relief). That night I talked Jacks ear off and made him look at them like 10 times. He finally fell asleep listening to me talk. Thanks Babe for always giving me your ear even when your sleeping!
On Tuesday morning I got to school 5 minutes early hoping to find my instructor Ramiro to get his professional opinion. I heard he can be pretty brutal too (is there something wrong with me wanting to hear the opinion of harsh people?) Nothing was ever sugar coated for us as children, so when I do get the opinion of people who are brutally honest, I really appreciate them. (the Good, Bad, & Ugly). Anyway Ramiro said that they were good and the colors popped and he liked them. He did criticize one photo because of the lighting (which I had already noticed but I chose to post because liked the photo anyway). But it’s ok because I’m still on Cloud 9! I’m so thrilled…I managed to get good photos from my beginner’s pro camera with my 75-250mm 4.5-5.6 lens, I was able to work with the natural light, & I survived posing my sister & got some natural expressions out of her. I wonder what kinda quality photos I can get once I get my Hasselblad running. I’m still waiting for the Doggon charger to come in from Germany. I think they forgot about me! |
