I’m on cloud 9 & I don’t want to come down! Please don’t make me come down! I was really shocked that I got about 30 good photos out of the 200 that I shot of my sister. I was really surprised on the feedback that I got. My "pretend" bride loved them, but she also loved some of the ones that I thought weren’t good lighting, coming from what I learned in my photography classes. My mother loved them –but she loves everything I do, Thanks Ma! Jack & my brother Chris aren't so easily impressed (which I totally appreciate they’re harshness) so when they chose the 20 that they liked I knew those were good! My biggest Critic of all is my good ol father-n-law Pat, he’s BRUTALLY honest! I actually like to bring my work to him to see what he thinks (he thinks he has an artistic eye, & I guess I must too since I care what he thinks). So far he’s only liked 2 of my photos which are the newborn photos of the feet. Anyway I called him and asked him to take a look online and he had to call me back. The wait was horrible but when he finally called back, I was squinting my face preparing myself for him to say how bad they were… But to my surprise he said the complete opposite! He loved them! He said there were a few ordinary ones but the REST of them were great! Phfeeww! (a sigh of relief). That night I talked Jacks ear off and made him look at them like 10 times. He finally fell asleep listening to me talk. Thanks Babe for always giving me your ear even when your sleeping!
On Tuesday morning I got to school 5 minutes early hoping to find my instructor Ramiro to get his professional opinion. I heard he can be pretty brutal too (is there something wrong with me wanting to hear the opinion of harsh people?) Nothing was ever sugar coated for us as children, so when I do get the opinion of people who are brutally honest, I really appreciate them. (the Good, Bad, & Ugly). Anyway Ramiro said that they were good and the colors popped and he liked them. He did criticize one photo because of the lighting (which I had already noticed but I chose to post because liked the photo anyway). But it’s ok because I’m still on Cloud 9! I’m so thrilled…I managed to get good photos from my beginner’s pro camera with my 75-250mm 4.5-5.6 lens, I was able to work with the natural light, & I survived posing my sister & got some natural expressions out of her. I wonder what kinda quality photos I can get once I get my Hasselblad running. I’m still waiting for the Doggon charger to come in from Germany. I think they forgot about me!

I'm a wedding photographer, West Elm lover, aspiring advocate for our buddies with special needs, and a Certified Dreamer since 1986. We live in a cozy city in Southern California and are always up for a good adventure. I enjoy telling stories with my camera, grubbing on spicy food, and solving the latest Dateline case.
