Yesterday I got to photograph one of our best friends/brother-n-law and his gorgeous fiancé! I say "our" bestfriend because Tony started out as my husband Jacks best friend since kindergarten and he easily became one of mine too! He's such a great brother (from another mother) to Jack and has always been there for us through everything!
We were so thrilled when he brought Karina around! She is a such a beautiful sweet girl and is absolutely PERFECT for Tony! We are so excited for them to be getting married and so thankful to be apart of it! They have such an awesome love story and I can't wait to share it with you, along with more photos from their engagement session -but for now here's a sneak peak :)

Back in Feburary I was lucky enough to collaborate with stylist Blaire from Sparkles and Vintage, Makeup/Hair Artist Claudia, & florist Linda from Victoria Ivy Flowers on a Styled Photoshoot Giveaway. We received some awesome entries but the one that stood out the most was from a sweet husband who was trying to win a special maternity photoshoot for his wife. Here is what Manny wrote: "For a theme I was thinking a FUN vintage military-maternity photoshoot of my wife and I. My wife is a big fan of vintage inspired shoots using different types of props that add style to the photos. (Old suit cases, vintage furniture, and anything that gives it a "blast to the past") lol I know that was a bit corny but I was not sure what other words I can use to describe my wife's vivid imagination! In other words something straight out of the Notebook, her favorite movie. Thank you for taking your time to review my entry. I hope men are allowed to participate too as I know my wife really wants and deserves this." Stephanie and Manny met in 2004 when she was 14 and he was 16 years old. They became good friends before dating. In fact Manny helped Stephanie get through some heart breaks. He was her shoulder to cry on and before she knew it she was falling in love with him! They started dating soon after he was deployed for basic training. Manny showered her with tons of letters and Hallmark cards while he was gone. Manny didnt believe in love but Stephanie sure did change his mind and after two years of long distant dating he expressed his love to her on one knee when he proposed. They waited a few years to try for babies, unfortunately when they were ready they lost their first pregnancy at 13 weeks. Sometimes this tragedy can tear couples apart but luckily this made them closer. After trying for some time and not being able to conceive they ended up putting it in God's hands. Now 7 months pregnant Stephanie says that "God has blessed us with our rainbow after the storm." They are beyond excited to bring their little boy Max into this world. Stephanie and Manny are the sweetest couple and we are soooo happy to be able to capture this special moment in their lives. Blaire did an amazing job at stylizing this vintage military themes photoshoot. Claudia did a beautiful job on Stephanie's classic hair and makeup. On point!!! Here are some of the letters that Manny send Stephanie... Gotta love his name!!! Loving the pop of color in the gorgeous bouquet Linda created. The wildflowers, lace and twine fit in perfectly with the theme! Stephanie you are stunning!!!!

I'M JANELLE MARINA
Wife, Mama Shark, + Photographer. Most days, you'll find me in mismatched socks and a top knot, working behind my computer with a smile on my face, listening to Zac Brown Band and R&B --or, dancing in the kitchen with my 3 littles and hunka husband, seeing who could come up with the coolest dance moves. I'm a wedding photographer, West Elm lover, aspiring advocate for our buddies with special needs, and a Certified Dreamer since 1986. We live in a cozy city in Southern California and are always up for a good adventure. I enjoy telling stories with my camera, grubbing on spicy food, and solving the latest Dateline case.
