There's so much information that I want to share with my clients and instead of sending them a bunch of emails with different pdf's of info, which I did for my first year, I decided to make an online pamphlet. A Wedding Guide. It tells my clients all about my services, FAQ's , Timeline examples, and Helpful tips for planning their wedding day! I totally wish that I had something like this when I was planning my wedding! I hope this can make my clients life a little easier and make their planning process run a little smoother! :) This is what my old FAQ's looked like -- I would email this to my clients... I am so excited because I actually get to check off 3 goals from my list
7. Create a FAQ file for Wedding Clients 25. Update Helpful tips 77. Create a FAQs post that links to all the questions & answers IM ON A ROLLLLLL!!!! CANT STOP ME NOW! Unless your Baby Maxx and you need a diaper change or bottle! Lol! Here's a sneak preview of my new Wedding Guide :)

"Don't be nervous"... Jack said as he gently squeezes my hand while we walk up to the front door of the ever so talented and famous --in the photog world Troy and Aimee of Troy Grover Photography's home! Easy for him to say he has no idea how big of a deal these people are! How intimidating it is to be in a room with so much talent! Even Promise Tangemanwas there, the awesome web designer that created Jasmine Star's site!!! We walked in and everyone had already formed their little groups --thank God that my husband Jack was able to come with me at the last minute! Im super grateful because I know how dead tired he was from his long 12 hr shift & it was probably the last thing he wanted to do. But he knew how important it was for me to go so he sucked it and did a great job pretending that he cared about photography lol. He's amazing and I'm so blessed to have him in my life! So I'm not sure how Troy Grover found me, but when he sent me a facebook friend request I was in total shock! Then when they invited me to their house for a KISS Books event I was even more surprised! I'm just a little fish in this huge ocean of talented photogs that are like the mermaids of the industry! Oh how I wish to be a talented successful mermaid one day! Haha! When I met Troy he was super nice and he welcomed us with a nice hug! His wife Aimee is adorable and so sweet! I got to network with other amazing photographers Alyssa, Alfreda, Shauntelle, Emma & her husband Josh. They were all so kind! Promise Tangeman is just as cute as she is online and her hair was large & in charge as always! luv it! I was surprised to see how tall everyone was! Troy was towering over everyone! I always thought my husband and I were tall but not in this group of people :) After mingling and breaking my insanity challenge of "no sweets" by indulging in freshly fried donuts and Sprinkles mini cupcakes I was ready to call it a successful night of networking! Oh and the Kiss books are pretty cool! I'm definitely considering switching over to then for my clients wedding albums! Check em out! Overall I'm so glad I went! It was nerve wrecking but once I threw myself out there and got sweet feedback it was great! I love nice people! I was embarrassed to ask Troy and Aimee to take a photo with me but I'm glad I did because I want memories of these sweet experiences. So the lesson of today is to take chances! You won't ever move forward in life if you stay in your comfort zone! Have an awesome weekend! Toodles!!! How many of you have misplaced cd's and feel like a piece of you heart is missing forever!!!! Well maybe your not as dramatic as I am but I hate when that happens! Or when my computer cant read the cd! Ugh! Pulling out my hair! These are some of the reasons I have decided to become a CD FREE business! Instead of waiting for a CD to come in the mail -my clients get their photos right when they are finished being edited on a awesome/ easy to use online gallery! It stores your photos in an online cloud for 1 year, gives you the option of downloading to your computer, and even print! Its pretty awesome and makes my clients life easier! Grid View Photos are categorized in separate folders on the left side Able to Enlarge photos Easily Download your photos onto your computer! Able to create a Vendors Page Great for Networking Clients can easily share their images with their friends & family on Facebook!
If you have been following me on this crazy business journey you have definitely noticed that I am pretty OCD when it comes to watermarking my photos. I either add my logo directly to the photos or make a template that displays my logo underneath. As my business grows I am growing with it and I like certain things then change my mind -and sometimes change it back! If it made you dizzy -imagine being in my head! ugh! :) So here are the templates that Im using now that I created from photoshop and I simply drop my photos in. Trust & believe I will probably be changing it! :)
Checking off #12 from my 100 Goals in 1000 days list! Yay! Heck yeah, This is the last part of what I learned my first year in photography! There are many more things that I learned but for some reason these are the topics that stood out the most to me :) I hope you enjoyed reading! Ive actually got some sweet feedback from some of my readers that this has motivated them to follow their dreams and I think that ROCKS!
This post is Part 10: Meeting People who follow your blog of the “What I learned in my first year” series. Click on the links if you would like to read more parts: Part 1:”The Investments” Part 2: “Getting Published” Part 3: "Facebook Contests" Part 4: "Choosing a Second Shooter" Pt. 5 Wedding Timelines Pt. 6 How to avoid Drama in the business Part 7: Wedding Attire -Style vs. Comfort Part 8: Finding your shooting style Part 9: Importance of First Look I might seem a little "out there" on my blog/ facebook, and I totally am like this when I feel comfortable! But in real life I like to get a feel for the environment before I put myself out there. I’m actually more comfortable on a one on one basis, rather than entertaining a large crowd of strangers. I'm more of a people watcher than the center of attention kind of gal :)You’ll probably never see that happening unless I’m trying to get the wedding party formal portraits! But that takes every ounce of courage to pull that side of Janelle out of me! Yes Im annoying i just referred to myself in 3rd person! So it totally threw me off when I was at a friends party and these two sweet young ladies approached me and asked if I was Janelle Marina! I was totally caught off guard… I know thats my business name, but noone has ever referred to me as Janelle Marina! They introduced themselves and said that they read my blog! They were chatting with me about my family and business as if we had known eachtoher for years! I gotta tell you it was pretty trippy to meet someone who you know nothing about, but they know all kinds of stuff about you. At first I felt a lil strange... they had the upper hand of the conversation, but then I realized that this is exactly why I started my blog… to connect with others! I was totally honored that these woman followed my journey and were sweet enough to introduce themselves! Ladies if your reading this, thank you so much for approaching me, for being so sweet to me and for reading my blog! You proved to me that all my gibberish is not for nothing :) Ya’ll are awesome! Hit me up when you need a wedding photographer :) And thank you for those of your that continue to check my blog, and are super kind enough to leave comments! I love and appreciate your feedback! Thats a wrap on my first year, cant wait to see what this year has in store for my family & my biz! Signing Off :) -Janelle |
I'M JANELLE MARINA
Wife, Mama Shark, + Photographer. Most days, you'll find me in mismatched socks and a top knot, working behind my computer with a smile on my face, listening to Zac Brown Band and R&B --or, dancing in the kitchen with my 3 littles and hunka husband, seeing who could come up with the coolest dance moves. I'm a wedding photographer, West Elm lover, aspiring advocate for our buddies with special needs, and a Certified Dreamer since 1986. We live in a cozy city in Southern California and are always up for a good adventure. I enjoy telling stories with my camera, grubbing on spicy food, and solving the latest Dateline case.
