Lerissa was the first person to enter my Love Story Contest, she had a wopping 90 votes in the first few days! I reminded people that the contest was open for anyone, so then the entries came rolling in! I didnt think anyone could pass Lerissa because she was already so far in the lead. For the rest of the Contest Lerissa & Jamie were neck n neck hustling for those votes. But at the end of the night Lerissa hit it out of the ballpark with the most votes!! (sorry for the baseball analogy, i was watching MoneyBall lastnight! Pretty good movie!) So a BIG CONGRATS to Lerissa & Kurt for WINNING my first LOVE STORY Contest! I cant wait to photograph you guys soon!!! Here's the winning post... {Lerissa & Kurt's Love Story...} Kurt and I met when I was 15 and he was 16. We met through separate church youth organizations and instantly felt a connection with each other, by the end of the night we exchanged email addresses :) Kurt lived in Victorville and i lived in Rowland heights at the time, so seeing each other was very difficult given the fact that neither one of us had our drivers licenses! We would only see each other on Sunday's because Kurt's parents would bring him to church in Alhambra. Our only method of communication was by phone cards or email/AIM :) As months went by, we started getting closer and closer and eventually talked on the phone till one another fell asleep on the other line, you can only imagine how many times we got in trouble by racking up the phone bill! Kurt and I knew we wanted to be together so he told me that he would ask me out the next time he saw me... as luck would have it, the next time we saw each other was APRIL FOOLS DAY! We were officially "boyfriend and girlfriend" so the long distance relationship continued as we accompanied each other to high school proms, dances, family events and everything else in between! It was tough being apart from each other when we were in that "puppy love" stage, but Kurt finally got his license and was able to drive himself to see me. He would drive down at 6 in the morning and stay till 12 at night... and even then those weren't enough hours in the day to spend with each other. One of my favorite days when he came over to visit was when he made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a picnic he planned for the day! Fast forward to 11 years, and we are more in love with each other than ever! We are now living together, pregnant with our first child and are engaged to be married in April! I still get those same butterflies when he comes home to me from work as i did when he would drive down from Victorville to visit after not seeing each other for a whole week! We have spent numerous hours, days, weeks, years together and i wouldn't have it any other way. He is my true soulmate and am so blessed to have him in my life. I guess picking april fool's day wasn't such a bad choice after all! ;) PS. Thank you to all the beautiful people who entered this contest! Check your emails soon!

I'm a wedding photographer, West Elm lover, aspiring advocate for our buddies with special needs, and a Certified Dreamer since 1986. We live in a cozy city in Southern California and are always up for a good adventure. I enjoy telling stories with my camera, grubbing on spicy food, and solving the latest Dateline case.
